hey peeps!! eva here!... so victory!!... lisa and i have made it to hong kong!!... as most of you know, hong kong is the last leg of our journey... we arrived to hong kong from shanghai just a couple of hours ago - and now we're situated in my friend alex's quaint but totally cute condominium just awaiting to shower and errr do some mega laundry!!...
you all probably haven't heard from us in about a week now - my ass has thankfully recovered! the wonders of ciprofloxacin!!... i was all well prior to our departure to tibet. tibet was definitely not what i expected it to be... the influence of the chinese there just dampens my mood in even being there!!... my heart really goes out to these tibetan people... there were so many restrictions to where you could venture off to - obtaining the proper permit etc... unfortunately we didn't get a chance to visit the potala palace - due to not having proper documentations needed!! fackers!!!... from tibet we flew to shanghai - and serioulsy i love shanghai!!! it was awesome!!... it was totally unfortunate that we only stayed there for a day... had a feast - not to mention lisa pimping me out... errr hahaha she can explain that.. anyway, once again hope all is well with everyone!!. eva.
Hi everyone! Whoot whoot! We are here at last! It's been quite a journey...very eye opening experience for sure! But we are both so glad to be at the end of our journey. As Eva mentioned, Tibet was something we didn't expect in terms of the Chinese influence. I kind of wished I went there to see how it was and should be many years ago...to see authentic Tibet and its people there. There was definately indifference between the 2 peoples and you can sense it. I admit I did not see many Tibetan smiling there unless they were with each other singing...and they have really nice voices :) Despite their situation, their dedication to their religion and what they believe in is very inspiring. I really hope they don't become absorbed and get to retain who they are and where they come from. Also, I thought I would get some fresh air and stuff and you know, the pollution is so bad there. Lots of construction. We went to the Nobulingka which is like a summer palace (in Beijing) and it was so not kept well. I felt bad for it, you can see the beauty of it though when it was in its prime so to say.
After Tibet, we went to Shanghai and I really love it. I would like to come back again and see it some more. We met up with Tim and he gave us some yummy good Shanghainese dinner and we just stuffed ourselves. Best food since we got here! It was an ordeal to get a hold of Tim and meet him as we have no cell phone (oh how I miss my cell phone! - using it ...just using it now as mp3 player). The public phones only take cards unless you find the red phones (which I forgot about! But used afterwards) so we were trying to figure out how to call Tim and we saw these 2 boys using it so we were like, let's just ask them and use their card and pay them. They said they spoke no english and left us to ponder what we should do next. I heard them whispering behind us and then they came back lol I think it was Eva's beauty! They asked us where we were from, we said Canada and So ya...I pimped her out... ;) lol So they let us use their card without paying but also asked to take a pic with them (well one of them) lol And while I was on the phone with Tim, Eva mentioned the guys kept taking pics of her. And when I came out, I swear, they were videotaping us via their phone lol I was like, we better not end up in some porno chinese site or bride sites man! Ah the stories...there are many...
You should get Eva to tell you about her super powers when we got to Shanghai and got a taxi!
Anyways, I'm sad to leave Shanghai. Will visit soon hopefully Expo 2010. Hong Kong is good so far. Alex's condo is cosy cute and yes...we so need to do laundry and shop! Oh baby...we shall shop!
Hope everyone is well. We will be back on sat. And ya...Alex has internet! Frigin awesome! I feel so lost without the net :(
Miss you guys and see you in a week. Will keep you posted til then :)
